Disk Space App Reviews

shows only home folder size

want to see why so much volume is used. See it only for my home folder. This only small part of all used sizes. Not helpful.

Good App

This app not only gives you an overview of your remaining disk space but it also shows what files are using the most space. Very easy to use and it also displays any USB data when connected to your computer. Great job !

Ok for local user directories

Cannot scan the whole disk. I also wish there was a better vizualisation of the used space. It doesn’t come close to SpaceSniffer but I haven’t found a similar software for macOS.

easy and useful

perfect tool

nice app

Nice app to find out which folders are using more disk space

Useless...

… only my drive is shown with space left. No thrill down to directories or something else. The same information is shown in the normal finder window. Uninstalled. Have a nice day!

waste of time and disk space

ist shows the size of disks and folders in your home drive. but only folders and ignores big files within the directory. there seems to be a pro version. I even did not try to find out what that one offers, as this version is more or less an empty container without any usueful feature.

Works

Works well for the home folders.

Buggy and extremely slow

Interface is strange and hard to understand. Scanning is extremely slow no matter how many files I have and it does not show scanning progress. It is painful to use this program.

Simple and easy to use

Its very simple app and quite good for my MBP (OSX 10.7 Lion), despite the fact that `Disk Space Tab utility has stopped working on 10.7 this still does its job.

Not bad for free… put not amazing either

I like the basic functionality of this app, in this era of small SSD drives I find myself regularly needing to clear space on my hard drive. Something like this app really helps you track down the files that are taking up all the space. While its lacking the polish of its for-cost competitors, its gives you the same basic functionality. One big difference, apps like NetDirStat (for Windows) and DaisyDisk (for Mac) provide a graphical representation of space used by files and folders. I do not see that feature in this app. If a graphical view were added this would be a killer app for anyone with a 64 or 128gb SSD drive. But for anyone not looking to drop the money on DaisyDisk, and especially for anyone unfamiliar or uncomfortable with OS Xs Disk Utility, this is a great app. TL:DR add graphical view and itll be a 5 star

App always asks for users/"your name"...

App always asks for /users/"your name"… and then it only lists that HD. Not my network drive. Not my USB drive. Im not really interested in my HD, that info can be found easily and quickly without this app, but I was hoping for the other things stated to work, would work. Running OS 10.8.3 on a 3.4 intel i7.

Kinda Pointless

Doesnt provide much more information than the built in About This Mac -> Storage already does. It doesnt help me find out what my mystery "Other" space is taking up. If you want to see how much space your folders in your home directory use, its good, otherwise I guess you need to buy the full app to be able to drill down into other folders.

Good, but needs improvements

It has a nice interface, but it forces you to select your home folder (it should be automatically selected). Then when scanning a big home dir, it does not allow closing nor stopping... I had to open Activity Monitor and kill the app.

ok

is ok

crappy app

dont even open. dosent do anything.

Not worth it

Just shows the disk usage of each drive in a bar chart format - what good is that. I wanted to drill down into the HDD and see how big each folder is. Cannot click on the bar chart and get the drill down…

helpful

this is awesome

Works great!

I love discs space. It works great I can drill down and find out where my files are the largest. I highly recommend this app.

Makes sense

Disk Space is easy for a beginner to understand. I also like being able to use the “Go to Folder…” option in the Finder menu (at the top of the screen) to go to exactly the folder with the stuff you want to get rid of. I just wish that you could copy and paste the folder location from the Disk Space app into the “Go to Folder…” menu, or, better yet, just click on the location in Disk Space and have it link me to the folder in the Finder window automatically. If the app had that, I’d give it 5 stars. Overall though, its a nice app!
